FAQs
Understand the Process
All returning students who apply before the priority deadline participate in room selection. Second-year students are required to live on-campus with an all-access meal plan. Junior/Senior students are not required to live on-campus but may apply for on-campus housing. Junior/Senior students are not required to have a meal plan. Please be aware that we are unable to guarantee housing for all Junior/Senior students.
Students must complete the Housing Application and submit their $80 Administrative Fee by noon on February 27, 2026. In March, students will receive their randomly generated lottery number, which will correspond to a specific selection date and time. If you are part of a Roommate Group, contact your roommates to determine who has the earliest selection time. If you have the earliest selection time for your group, please immediately set a reminder for yourself to complete room selection at your allotted time.
At your selection date and time, you will go to the Residence Life Portal and select a room. If you are in a Roommate Group, the individual with the earliest selection time will pick the room for the group. Junior/Senior students in a roommate group with second-year students will pick for their group.
Please be aware that some halls and room types may fill faster than others during Room Selection, so you will want to have a backup plan in case your top choice(s) have filled. Second-year students in a roommate group with Junior/Senior students should make a back-up plan should all Junior/Senior spaces fill during Junior/Senior selection. You will need to reform your roommate group with just second-year students and select during second-year room selection.
The online tutorials below will take you through a step-by-step process of room selection.

Choosing Your Room
At your selection date and time, you will be able to pick from all spaces that are remaining. No new rooms are released during the selection process. Quints and Lake Shore Campus quads can only be selected by groups of 5 and 4 respectively, as they are limited.
Reapplication for Second-Year Students & the Residency Requirement
All First and Second-year students are required to live on campus and maintain an All-Access Meal Plan per the Residency Requirement. Second-year students who do not select a room during Room Selection will be administratively assigned to an on-campus space after room selection on a rolling basis. Second-year students may live with Junior/Senior students. As second-year students are required to live on campus, housing is guaranteed for second-year students.
If you wish to request an exemption from the Residency Requirement, you will need to submit a Housing Exemption Form no later than noon on February 20, 2026 to receive a decision prior to February 27. If you do not receive approval for an exemption, you will be administratively assigned to an on-campus space and will be responsible for all housing/meal plan charges.
Reapplication for Junior and Senior Students
Junior and Senior students may live on campus should they choose to complete a housing application. Juniors and Seniors may live with Second-year students. Junior and Senior students should make sure to apply for housing by the priority deadline to participate in room selection, as housing cannot be guaranteed.
Should all Junior/Senior spaces fill during room selection, all remaining Junior/Senior students will be placed on a Deferred Housing List. Students on the Deferred Housing List will be offered spaces as they become available based on their lottery number and will have 48 hours to accept or decline the space. Students will be offered spaces via their LUC email. Students on the Deferred Housing List who make plans to live off-campus may cancel their contract without penalty any time before they are offered a space on-campus.
Accommodations
If you currently have a housing or meal plan accommodation on file with the Student Accessibility Center or would like to request an accommodation, please contact their office as soon as possible to ensure that your records and accommodation are up-to-date and on file prior to the Reapplication Process.
Specific information regarding applying to request a housing and meal plan accommodations is available on the SAC webpage. Any student whose accommodations are received after the priority deadline may be placed on a waiting list should a space that meets their accommodations not be available.

We will be reaching out to all students with approved accommodations to provide additional information on how your accommodation may impact the selection process. If you have any questions in the meantime, please email us at res-life@luc.edu.
